Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY NANOSKY May 2, 1928 - August 31, 2016 Dorothy Nanosky was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She moved to Winnipeg in her teenage years, both sharing an apartment and working at the Ellice Inn with her friend Rose, the sister of her future husband, Stan. She married Stan in 1949 and moved to the farm in Brunkild, Manitoba. Their son, Vern was born in 1952 and the family moved to Winnipeg ten years later to care for Stan's father and niece - all while they continued to farm in the summer. In 1978 they moved to Langley, British Columbia where they purchased and ran their own laundromat and dry cleaners. In 1985 they moved back to Manitoba to be closer to their son and grandchildren. Dorothy spent summers at their house in Anola, hosting their grandchildren and keeping them entertained with baking and crafts. Stan and Dorothy would travel across Canada in their motorhome visiting family, or some winters would fly to Mexico with friends, always returning in time to prepare and host epic Christmas and New Years dinners that we would all anticipate for months. In 1997, they downsized and relocated to a condo in St Vital. Another move in 2010 took them to assisted living in Concordia Village. Dorothy is predeceased by her loving husband Stan in 2014; daughter-in-law Donna and sister Darlene. She is survived by her son Vern; grandchildren, Ryan (Mandy), Mark (Brie) and Terry and great-grandchildren; Raegan and Grady. Also left behind are sister Gloria; brother Ken as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A small memorial service will be held in Dorothy's honour 10:00 a.m. on November 19 at Concordia Village, 1125 Molson Street. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or any other charity of your choosing.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

It is at times like these that we so often fail to realize the love we have for someone until after they have left us. I will miss the times we shared, and of so much laughter we bestowed upon each other over the years. I will miss our visits, regardless of wherever they occurred, whether it was in light conversation, sharing a meal, or even working together in the kitchen. I miss our weekly phone calls and the sound of your so often reassuring voice. These, and so many more other fond memories will forever be cherished and held close to my heart as I miss you dearly. - Posted by: Judy (Niece) on: Nov 14, 2016
