DONALD CRESSALL It is with great sadness that the family of Don Cressall announce his passing at the age of 80. He passed peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 9, 2016. Don was a very private and caring person. He was a loving and very responsible father dedicated to the well-being of his family and a loyal friend to all who knew him. Don is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Myrna, his children, Glen (Kerry) and Gary; his son-in-law Gary, and his grandchildren, J.D. (Alanah), Hayley (Brendan) and Devann (Jordan). Don was predeceased by his daughter Leslie Dudeck and his parents, Walter and Ethel Cressall. Don was born and raised in Transcona and had many fond memories of his time spent with friends growing up. He was committed to the community serving as the President of Pirates Community Club and you could often find him working on the ice at the rink in the cold winter months. Don also campaigned for over 30 years for the Heart and Stroke Foundation until his health no longer allowed him to continue. Don worked as a carman for the CNR for 37 years spending time at the Transcona shops and at Symington Yards. After his retirement, Don set his sights on building the family cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake. Carpentry, being one of Don's many skills, allowed him to build the beautiful cottage that laid the foundation for many summer get-togethers with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his time out on the lake fishing. Upon his return to the dock, he would always be eagerly greeted by his faithful companion Chessa, the family dog. Heartfelt thanks go to the staff on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care throughout Don's stay. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler's Funeral Home 1800 Day Street.
