ALBERT (BERT) VERHAEGHE Albert (Bert) Verhaeghe passed away on October 30, 2016 in Spokane WA. Bert was born in St. Boniface, MB on April 4, 1936 to George and Marie (Richot) Verhaeghe. He is survived by his loving wife Helga of 36 years; his brothers, Larry (Elsie), Tommy (Carol); three sons, Eric (Amy), Christopher and James (Jenne) Verhaeghe; his two stepsons Darrell and Jason Penner, along with 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Opa". Bert grew up in Winnipeg and served in the Canadian Army reserves. He was a Winnipeg city police officer and worked for Powell equipment prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1963. He became a US citizen in 1974 but maintained his Canadian citizenship enjoying time spent in both countries. Bert had a degree in business and a career selling heavy equipment. He enjoyed golfing, wood working, playing cards, tending to his prolific veggie gardens and just being an all around handyman. Bert will be sorely missed by family and friends from Manitoba, Arizona, Texas, Germany, and France to Washington. R.I.P Opa As per his request, there will be no service scheduled.
