Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH GEORGE STEFFENSON It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of George Joseph Steffenson on November 6, 2016, in Parksville, BC. He is survived by his son Richard Steffenson, grandson David Steffenson, sister Katherine Sigurdson, several step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. George was predeceased by his first wife Irene, second wife Lillian, sisters Julia Svane, Lee Creek, and stepchildren Louise Dawson and Bill Leithead. George was born December 14, 1921 and raised on a farm in Monominto, MB. As a young man he joined the army and performed duties such as messenger and truck driver while overseas during the Second World War. After the war, George worked at Canada Packers in Winnipeg, before moving his family to a hobby farm near Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. He worked at different jobs on the Island and enjoyed many outdoor activities including golf and gardening. When he moved to Parksville in his later years, George kept busy with his garden and preserving the fruit of the many trees he had planted in his yard. The family would like to thank the staff at Nanaimo Regional Hospital and Stanford Place for their excellent care of George these last few months. At George's request, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held in Manitoba at a later date. George, your kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew you. www.yatesfuneral.ca
