PATRICK ANTHONY GREER Patrick Anthony Greer, born August 26, 1960 in Camrose, Alberta, died tragically in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 14, 2016. Pat was raised and attended school and university in Thunder Bay (Westfort) and was involved in the grain industry in Thunder Bay and Calgary. He was a grain quality expert and manager at BioVision Seed Labs in Winnipeg, where, there was nobody better at what he did than Pat. He is survived by his adoring sons Arthur, Winnipeg, Brandon (Jennifer), Calgary and their mother, Paula, Winnipeg. His loyalty, devotion, wit and unique sense of humour will be missed by all, his sisters Terri (Ed), Etobicoke, Jane (Paul), Toronto, Bernie (Claude), Kenora and his niece Kiia (Mike) and nephew Kale (Sara), as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Greer-Donnelly clan. Pat was a caring and giving father, brother and friend and always kept us laughing. He made many sacrifices in life for the sake of family and always made sure we were together when it mattered the most. His passing has left a large hole in our family. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Pat's short life on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church (WEFC), 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. The family is grateful for the support and guidance provided by the WEFC.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I worked in the engineering department which was beside Pat's QC department on the 29th floor both with UGG and Agricore United. There were few dull moments with Pat as a neighbour - from email bombs to vowels swapped on keyboards. Pat enjoyed people and really enjoyed his time on the GEAPS EPC - that committee had a lot of fun and I know that Pat was one of the people that helped make it so. I kept in touch with Pat after AU and enjoyed lunches with him as he always kept up with what was going on the grain business. Karen and I were saddened to hear of his passing and offer our condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Tom Price (Friend and Co Worker) on: Nov 22, 2016

  • Pat was one of the people in the UGG/Agricore United "family" that contributed to our sense of team....down to earth, humble, respected. My condolences. - Posted by: Brian Hayward (Colleague) on: Nov 21, 2016

  • Patrick and I met our second year of high school in Thunder Bay. I have our teachers to thank for the start of our long lasting friendship since they always sat me in the middle of him and his friends. Maybe they thought my serious attitude towards school would rub off on them but it was probably the other way around. We shared a lot of experiences together. His sense of humour and his way of looking at things would cheer you up no matter what your mood. He was so smart yet could talk to anyone. I will sorely miss him. What I would give for one more day. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. He left his mark on our hearts forever. - Posted by: Susan Novak (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2016

  • My heart holds so many memories of my Uncle Pat. He was a very funny, down to earth, cool uncle, that always made you feel like you were a special person ... a good friend. During my growing up years, Uncle Pat and his family visited us in Sioux Lookout often, where we resided. Once he had arrived, he became the instant life of the party. Fond memories linger of times spent in our pool together. Uncle Pat always appointed himself in charge of the pool parties. He had us all running together one way in the pool, and then abruptly turn and run in the opposite direction. We created "big waves" together, and most of all, we had so much fun as a family. Another special memory of my Uncle Pat is when he offered me a beer downstairs during one of his visits. I might have been underage, and I am sure I didn't have any, but I knew from that point forward, that we had become great friends. I will miss you Uncle Pat, and until we meet again, Love Kelly Kelly LeGros Chilliwack, British Columbia - Posted by: Kelly LeGros (Nephew) on: Nov 20, 2016

  • I worked with Pat at UGG. He shared his knowledge freely and with great wit. Pat was greatly appreciated by UGG colleagues for sly but hilarious comments. He made some tough days easier to take. Our condolences to his family, remember him with a grin. Lorne Hadley - Posted by: Lorne Hadley (Co worker at UGG) on: Nov 20, 2016

  • Like Cheryl and Kathy both, my friendship started with Pat through the GEAPS organization. He was the EPC chairman the first time we meet and I was new to the committee. The guy was well respected, funny, dedicated and had that mischievous smile that had you thinking what he was up to next. And the pranks he came up with you know he had to lay awake at night to think of some of them. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard or had so much fun as being on that committee the years Pat was on it. It's a sad day on God's green earth with his passing. My condolences to the family and the many friends Pat has. God rest your soul and bless your family Pat, A wonderful person is now with the lord in heaven. - Posted by: Jim Jundt (Freind) on: Nov 19, 2016

  • I recently learned of the untimely passion of Pat, and wanted to offer my sincere condolences to his family & friends. Pat & I grew up together, 3 doors apart, on Christina Street, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I have many fond memories of times spent with Pat. Although Pat & I had lost touch many years ago, I can only assume that he spent his life adding light to the lives of the people around him. Please celebrate that, and continue to keep his spirit alive through those fond memories. Don Baran - Posted by: Don Baran (Childhood friend) on: Nov 19, 2016

  • Pat and I met in 2004 through the GEAPS association we both belonged to. We served on an Education subcommittee together for a number of years. Pat was one of the most genuine people I have ever known. He smiled with his whole face and his laugh was infectious. Pat honestly made this world a better place. Oh the pranks he played! He talked often of his family and was pretty proud of his kids' accomplishments. I am so sad by this tragedy. Please know that in the "work world" he was so incredibly respected and really such a joy. My deepest sympathies to you all. - Posted by: Cheryl Lansink (Friend ) on: Nov 19, 2016

  • I am so very saddened to hear of Pat's passing. He was a bright and shining star at all of our GEAPS meetings - funny as heck! He was the chairman of our educational programming committee and I was his vice-chair. I could not have asked for anyone better to sit beside - we had a blast together! The world will not be as bright a place without him here. Please accept my very deepest sympathy. I am so sorry for your loss.
