WILLIAM (BILL) SAWCHUK January 16, 1926 - September 25, 2016 Bill Sawchuk peacefully passed away at the age of 90 in Winnipeg, MB at Health Sciences Centre, with his daughter Debra by his side. Dad was predeceased by his cherished wife Elsie, of 58 years; parents Peter and Mary; brothers John, Tony, Paul, and sister Elsie. Dad is survived by his loving children Debra, and Gordon (Gord) (Kay); grandchildren Harry and Sophie; siblings Lena, Joe (Joyce), Nick, Pauline (Rex), Sylvia (Bill), Steve (Lee), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad was born in Newdale, MB and moved to Winnipeg in his early teens. When the Second World War broke out, Dad joined the Navy from 1941 to 1946. Dad worked for Via Rail's onboard services as a Service Supervisor for 37 years and retired in 1983. Dad had a passion for gardening, cooking and animals, and enjoyed reading, watching the history channel as well as the Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets. Dad loved listening to: Time it was, And what a time it was, It was... A time of innocence A time of confidences. Long Ago...it must be... I have a photograph.
