Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH STANLEY JAMES March 31, 1934 - November 15, 2016 It is with heavy hearts we wish to announce the death of my beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Ken was born on March 31, 1934 to Stanley and Jessie James in the RM of Springfield. Ken is survived by his dear wife Jean of 60 years. Ken will be deeply missed by his loving children, Barb Wedel (Randy), Sandra Silk, Linda Poirier, Donnie James (Teresa). Ken was a second son to Mattie Strachan and brother of Bob James (Laurie), and sister-in-law Annette James. Ken was happy when he was able to spend time with his 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ken had numerous talents! He was an Electrical Apprentice with CNR, a driving instructor and enjoyed many evenings communicating on his ham radio to friends around the world. Ken enjoyed playing the accordion and being on call for the church to ensure an efficient sound system. Ken volunteered with Scouts Canada in his younger years. Ken and Jean's favorite pastime each day, was to visit any Tim's within a 10 km radius of Transcona to connect with their many coffee friends. Ken was very fortunate to retire at the age of 55 years. He was employed by the River East School Division from 1961 to 1981 teaching electronics. He enjoyed summers at the cottage and travelling to warmer climates in the winters. You could always count on Ken and his bucket of tools to lend a helping hand to friends, family and neighbours. Ken was predeceased by his parents, brother Lary James; father-in-law Wilson Strachan; brother-in-law Jim Strachan; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Albert Golding and many friends. The memorial service will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Lynda Trenholm officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be forwarded to the charity of one's choice. Thank you for the years we had and the memories shared. We pray that when you left us, you knew how much we cared. Still loving you with all our hearts . Dearest Jean and family, I am saddened to hear of Ken's passing - he was such a kind, wise and generous-of-spirit man. I always remember his visits to us at the lake with warmth and happiness because my parents were so delighted to see him and you with your family... Always full of kindness and caring for family. I am sending big warm hugs and regret I cannot be there in person for Ken's service. With love, Pauline James and family in Victoria BC. - Posted by: Pauline James (Cousin) on: Nov 19, 2016
