Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • My parents Emile and Gisele Smith were family friends and related thru marriage with the Caners family. I was the ring bearer for Norm and Jeannette when they married years ago. Always loved the stories from the old days in Fisher Branch with Phillip and Norman and my dad Emile and his brother Lucien. R I P. Norman - Posted by: Denis Smith (Relative) on: Dec 22, 2016

  • Norman and I spent weekends riding horses and hunting rabbits as we lived very close to each other on the farm in Fisher Branch. Norman and I were very good friends in school. Even though we lost touch in later years, I have always thought fondly of the many years of friendship we had. Ada and I send our sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Harvey & Ada Vandersteen (Friends ) on: Nov 25, 2016

  • Norm was a wonderful man! He had a special place in my families heart. I think I can speak for my dad (Carson) in saying that Norm went beyond being an employee and was a family friend. He was always available to help when we needed an expert and carried a warm and cheerful attitude. Norm supervised me at my first construction site. He was such a hard worker! He talked lovingly of his family and got tearful when he reminisced about holding his grandchildren after they were born. Norm was a very good man. We are so sorry for this huge loss. Our hearts and prayers are with you in this time. - Posted by: Lauren Rist () on: Nov 25, 2016

  • I knew Norm for about 5 years before his retirement at Gateway. I got along great with him as he was always a very hard working professional Superintendent who always carried himself well. He always spoke very highly of his wife, kids and grandkids. I was always surprised at his strength at his age often carrying two sheets of plywood at a time and always willing to lend a hand. He was a champ and will be missed. - Posted by: Louis Lemoine (Professional - co worker) on: Nov 25, 2016

  • I'm going to miss Norm, everyday that I'm in the backyard. We talked all the time, he always had to be doing something, from building to gardening and always offered to help the people around him. His voice use to scare the dogs but he was just a kind, caring man. He always petted the dogs but one always kept his distance (Jet), but one day Norm was so happy, Jet actually let him pet him, he never gave up trying to win that dogs trust. Norm is going to missed by everyone that knew him,he was a kind, caring, man. Condolences to the family, may your memories give you peace and comfort. - Posted by: Ken Bencharski (Neighbour) on: Nov 24, 2016
