Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY JOY HARPER (nee SELLEY) January 15, 1935 - Thursday, November 24, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Gigi at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was 81 years young. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Don, son David, her parents, Arthur and Margaret, and her sister Yvonne. Shirley is lovingly remembered by her brothers Doug (Sheila) Selley and Ron (Lorna) Selley; her four children Wade (Lori) Harper, Jamie (Tracy) Harper, Susan (Paul) Lauret and Darren (Anissa) Harper; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (Ivan) Krcmar, Cara, Cortney Harper; Nicole, Colton, Ayla Lauret; Jake, Aniko Harper and two great-grandchildren, Madden and Avery Krcmar. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Prim Wood and brother-in-law David (Joan) Harper, as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley also wanted to acknowledge the enduring friendship of Doreen Buss who lovingly kept in touch with her through all these years. We would sincerely like to thank the staff at the Southwood Hospice for their care and compassion during the last month of Mom's life. She is now in a better place and as Mom said "There are a lot of good people waiting up there for me". As per Mom's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, Shirley requested that her children gather for a picnic to honour her life sometime next year in lieu of a celebration event. If family or friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Shirley's memory to the charity of their choice. Evan J. My very sincere sympathy to all of Shirley's family. Shirley was blessed with a wonderful family and lots of friends because of who she was. Shirley was my long time, dear and true friend who went on ahead of me and left me heartbroken. We were friends since early childhood and we became sisters by heart. This exceptional lady will be missed by so many. If I am lucky enough to make it to Heaven, I just hope she is there to greet me, with a hug and a chilled bottle of wine for us to share. I will never forget you, my dear friend. Xoxo - Posted by: Doreen Buss (Friend) on: Dec 03, 2016
