BRUCE CLUNIE The Clunie family is saddened to announce the passing of Bruce Clunie on November 28, 2016. Bruce was born in Swan River on June 6, 1944 and later moved to Foxwarren with his parents, Dick and Pearl Clunie. He resided in Foxwarren until he began his career in the grain industry with Manitoba Pool Elevators in 1965. While working in the elevator in Killarney, he met his wife to be, Phyllis Ramsden. Bruce and Phyllis were married on July 1, 1967 and thereafter raised three children while Bruce's career took them to various communities in Manitoba. The family settled in Winnipeg in 1980. Bruce retired from XCAN Grain in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and spending time at the lake with family and friends. Bruce's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. Bruce is remembered by Phyllis, his children Lori (Michael), Sonya (Gary) and Gordon (Sofia), his grandchildren, Connor, Carter, Evan, Karly, Alyssa, Deanna and Gavin, his sisters Edna (Paul) and Heather (Mo), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at CancerCare and Grace Hospital for Bruce's care, and Bruce's church family at Crestview United Church for their support. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Crestview United Church or Siloam Mission. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Avenue, Winnipeg. A private interment will follow.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I have so many happy memories of Mr. Clunie. I remember trips out to the lake and Mr. Clunie trying to teach me how to water ski. I remember how compassionate he was when I lost my own dad and he gave me a much needed hug from a "dad". He was a very talented wood worker and we were lucky enough to have him make us some tables, shelves and a headboard...all of which we still use today. I will think of Mr. Clunie every time I look at them and smile. I am so happy that I was able to Visit with Mr. Clunie for a short time the day before his passing. Although he was not able to speak very much, he was able to still call me a smart ass...I will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Leanne Veltri (friend of the family) on: Dec 04, 2016

We have many great and fond memories of Bruce from our time at the lake, a place we know where he loved to get away and relax.
