OLGA WALTERS (nee MATICHUK) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Olga Walters. She is survived by son Gary; daughter Cathy; and nephew Craig (Lorraine) and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Harris Stanley Walters; her father Thomas; mother Katherine; and brothers, John, William and Michael. Mom was born in Transcona and lived there for most of her life. She loved gardening, her flowers and making plum jelly. Despite a significant stroke when she was only 30, she managed to cook and clean and go downstairs to the basement to do laundry. During her last few years she lived near and then with her daughter after having a heart attack. She especially enjoyed car rides through Assiniboine Park, going to the mall, Tim Hortons runs and time spent at the Casino. Anyone who knew Mom saw her for the kind and considerate soul that she was. She had great empathy for others, and she rarely complained about all the health problems she experienced during her lifetime. The last six months have been especially hard on her. Mom died peacefully at home in her sleep, just as she hoped she would. We will miss her every day. The family would like to thank Dr. Matthews and Angela of the St. Boniface Clinic, as well as all the folks at Homecare for taking such good care of Mom over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A funeral will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home located at 1800 Day Street on Tuesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street - 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com
