Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNA KITCHUR September 6, 1925 - December 2, 2016 On Friday, December 2, 2016 our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Tudor House Personal Care Home after a lengthy struggle with dementia. Mom was predeceased by her husband Mac in 1981, son Roland in 2001, parents Helen and Emil Dreger, brothers Bill, Ed, Henry, Victor, Ron and Bert, and sisters Hilda, Elsie and Martha. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Lorraine (Gerald), son Gordon (Darrel), grandchildren Darren, Treena, and Kevin (Courtney), great-granddaughter Tatjanna, brother Herb (Lil), sisters Olga (Al), Emily, and Hertha (Wes), sister-in-law Ina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Marten, Germany and arrived in Canada with her parents and two older siblings in 1926 at the age of six months. They settled in the Carnridge District where Mom grew up with 13 other siblings. In 1946 Mom married Dad and together they farmed in Gypsumville. Mom led a very busy life. While raising three children she was actively involved with the day to day farming operations and still found time to provide the most wonderful meals and baking. After her children got older, Mom went to work at the Gypsumville School as a custodian where she was rewarded for 24 years of excellent service. Mom was also active in the local church choir, the Gypsumville W.I., community events and cooking at several local restaurants. Mom was proud of her time on the district health board which was responsible for bringing in a much needed health clinic to the community. After Dad's passing, Mom remained on the farm until 2002. She then moved to Ashern where she resided for eight years. In 2011 she moved to Tudor House Personal Care Home where she resided until her passing. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Tudor House Personal Care Home who took exceptional care of Mom during her stay. A graveside service will be held in Gypsumville in the spring. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Tudor House Personal Care Home, 800 Manitoba Ave., Selkirk, Manitoba, R1A 2C9.
