Born: Aug 02, 1925
Date of Passing: Dec 04, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATSY BERTHA WICKMAN MUTCHMOR (nee THOMSON) Pat's family announces with sadness her peaceful passing on December 4, 2016. Her kind and gentle nature and her endless love for family will never be forgotten. Pat was born August 2, 1925 in Edmonton and grew up in Regina where she received her formal education, attending Central High. After graduation Pat moved to Winnipeg to attend business school. She joined the staff of North West Airlines and continued to work as a travel agent with O'Brien Travel, Fort Garry Travel, Sarbit Travel and Travel Vision both before and after raising a family. One of the highlights of her professional career was the opportunity it afforded for international travel, which Pat made great use of travelling to dozens of countries around the world. The Winnipeg Canoe Club played a major role in her youthful life, and it was there that she met her husband Dick. In 1949, as a member of the first Ladies War Canoe Crew, she won the Canadian Canoe Association Dominion Championship race in Ottawa. Dick was coxswain of the crew, and they were married in August of the following year. Pat served on the executive of the Woman's Committee of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for many years. She worked tirelessly to support and promote the symphony and its music and in 2005 Pat was recognized with a Long Service Award. Her accomplishments were many, but she was quietly proud of having designed and, with the help of her husband and children, built their beloved cottage at Clearwater Bay, Lake of the Woods. This retreat was her paradise on earth. Her greatest pleasure was to watch the love and caring for each other which flowed so freely between every member of her family. This happiness was seconded closely by the pure joy of seeing the world. Pat was predeceased by her parents Lyla and Stan, her sister, Lyla (Myque) MacDonald, half-brother Jim Thompson and her beloved son, Jeff. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan (Jon) Cowtan, Sandy (Nancy) Mutchmor and Meagan Mutchmor (Brent Jakobson), her grandchildren Patrick Cowtan, Buffy Davey (Rick), Stefan Cowtan, Randy Mutchmor (Krystin Houston) and Bradley Mutchmor (Kailey Oxenforth). She is also survived by her stepbrother Bill Whitehead, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family desires to acknowledge with thanks all those who have given their love and encouragement to Pat during her years of illness. We would also like to recognize the compassionate staff at Riverview Health Centre, whose professional expertise and abundant giving of themselves contributed greatly to Pat's care. At Pat's request, a cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Friday, December 16 at the Conservatory, Assiniboine Park. Reception 5:00 p.m. with formal presentation 5:30 p.m. Flowers are declined with gratitude. However, friends who wish may make a donation to a charity of their choice.

Sending kind thoughts to my cousins Susan, Sandy, and Meagan, and to your families. It was very sad to hear the news about Aunt Pat, but she sure left you with a lifetime of wonderful memories and so much love. Though distance kept us so far apart over the years, I will treasure the memories I have of your Mom, and your Dad, at the cabin and in Winnipeg. Our extended family here joins in our condolences and in sending love your way. - Posted by: Malcolm MacDonald (Nephew) on: Dec 28, 2016
