AILEEN LOUISE BATES (nee HORNBY) After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease, Aileen passed away December 7, 2016, at the age of 96, at the Kiwanis Pavilion in Victoria, BC. Born April 29, 1920, the fourth of five children of Lincolnshire, England, immigrants Alfred Arthur Hornby and Harriet (Dennis) Hornby, Aileen spent her childhood years at the family house on Valour Road (Pine Street) in Winnipeg. Aileen is survived by her four children, daughter Kerry Lynne (Nestor Guspodarchuk), of Winnipeg, MB, daughter Susan Louise, of Sidney, BC, son Gordon David Hunter (Breta Passler), of Winnipeg, MB and Warren Ross George (Maureen McGregor), of Bowser, BC; grandchildren, Cheryl, Kevin, Janice, Rick, Lauren, Cameron, Danika and Hunter, as well as seven great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Aileen was predeceased by her husband, George and all four of her siblings: Dorothy, Dean, Edith and Art. Many thanks to the staff of Victoria's Kiwanis Pavilion for their exquisite care for the many years Mum was a resident there. Aileen's body will be put to rest in the Neepawa Cemetery with a private interment. A memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
