SANDRA FRANCES SODLOSKY BRIDGES After a lengthy illness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Frances Sodlosky Bridges on December 5, 2016. Sandy was born on January 17, 1947. She grew up in East Kildonan. She had many childhood friends, and maintained those friendships throughout her lifetime. Having no siblings, Sandy's friends were very important to her, and she thought of them as family. Sandy had a long and happy career with MTS, starting as a construction clerk and working her way up to a human resource manager at her time of retirement. She loved her job, was involved with and planned many special company events and made many lifelong friends. She attended the University of Winnipeg as an adult student and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. This was one of her proudest accomplishments. In 1995, Sandy married the love of her life, Don Bridges. Their marriage and friendship was the envy of everyone who knew them. After their early retirement, Don and Sandy opened the first and only general store in Grindstone Provincial Park. They became the hub of the community. Sandy loved life! She believed in living every moment to the fullest, whether it be shopping, spending her winters in Maui, attending rock concerts, sporting events or trying her luck at her favorite slot machine at the casino. Sandy had a heart of gold, and was very generous. She took pleasure in making people's dreams come true, and surprising someone with a special gift or gesture. She loved children, and took her role as godmother to many of her friends' children very seriously. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a true animal lover, and would have taken in every stray if she could have. Her two cats, Gypsy and Pukalani held a special place in her heart. Sandy will be remembered and always missed by her husband, Don; Donna Bridges; grandsons, David and Mark, and their father, Gary Dueck (Denise); Kathy and Chris Wallmuth; granddaughters, Jillian and Katelyn; brother-in-law, Ron Bridges (Chris); cousins, Judy (Bob) Stinson, cousins Greg (Donalda) Hull, Brian (Carol) Polonski numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Mary Sodlosky. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sandy's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Sandy, we love you, and are so grateful that you chose to share your life with us. You have touched each and every one of our lives, and there isn't a day that goes by that you aren't thought of and missed.CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

I remember talking to Sandy when I decided to go back to university and how supportive she was, sharing her experience with me and encouraging me. She was great to chat with and so kind to the kids coming into their store. Very sad to watch what happened to her. Condolences to her family and friends. I had the good fortune of meeting Sandy when we built our cottage in Grindstone. She always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello. I know she will be truly missed. So sorry for your loss Don, I know you loved and missed her when she was unable to be at your side. Sandy is now in God's hands and she will be at peace forever more. - Posted by: Gay Sutton (Acquaintance ) on: Dec 16, 2016

I worked with Sandy many years ago, my dad Eric Powell also worked with her and knew Don. Sandy was a wonderful person and had that smile that lit up a room! It's sad that someone so young (and really she was far from old), has been taken far, far too soon. Many people will miss you Sandy. Our condolences to Don and the families. - Posted by: Gaynor Henry (nee Powell) (Former co-worker at MTS) on: Dec 13, 2016

I remember Sandy from my days at 1300 Ellice Avenue back in the 60's and 70's. She was always a fun person and even though we did not always see eye to eye on some things she took it all in stride and there were never any hard feelings between us. I remember when she and Don retired as it was just shortly before I did in 1995. It's sad to see that she was taken from us so soon but at least she is in a better place and suffers pain no longer. My sincerest condolences to Don and family. - Posted by: Edwin Peart (Friend ) on: Dec 11, 2016

Sandy was a dear friend from day one, when I started at MTS back in 1986 the first question she asked me was do you play baseball, my favorite sport., and so it began, baseball with the MTS Communicators from 1300 Ellice avenue what an awesome time we had at every game and the gatherings we had also had Janete and Dick Laing, the memories are forever in my heart! I was very luck to visit her on Fort Street in the last year and am sure she knew who I was, love you Sandy and will miss you RIP my friend. - Posted by: Debbie Forgie () on: Dec 11, 2016

Some of my best memories as a child were when we went to visit Auntie Sandy. We all got very excited when we found out we were going to her house or she was coming to visit us. I will always remember how much fun it was to be around her. - Posted by: Kerry McCormack () on: Dec 10, 2016

I remember Sandy from almost day one of my tenure at MTS. She and Nona were the queens of Construction at that time and their voices were instantly recognisable on the two-way radios in the trucks. Sandy would discreetly turn down the volume on the office radio when the "Gong Show" started near quitting time so that the office boss Ivan wouldn't hear. She was always organising or closely involved with office parties, socials, or charitable events involving MTS and was loved and respected by us all. I have fond memories of working with Sandy and her passing has left a void in the community. - Posted by: Bob Schenk (Work friend) on: Dec 10, 2016

Will always remember her smiles, giggles, helpfulness, her unconditional love and the fun, so much fun. That yellow barracuda got us in lots of trouble ( Sandy, Griz,Marlene, Betty) too many to name them all. Most helpful bridesmaid of them all. She loved my children and grandchildren. Xmas at Sandies and her Mums with all of her delicious Ukrainian treats. There is not one bad memory of this beautiful lady. My only regret is not spending more time with her the last few years. RIP my friend will love you and remember you always - Posted by: Dave and Marlene Kerr and family (Longtime co worker and friend) on: Dec 10, 2016
