LIANA VAN MOL Liana Van Mol (nee Appelt), 49, loving girlfriend, aunt, sister, daughter and friend to all, passed away unexpectedly December 8, 2016. She is survived by her long-time partner George Waite; her parents Charles and Judy Appelt; brother Blake Appelt (Leslie), sister Trina McGregor (Alan), and brother Wade; nieces, April Haight (Brad), Jessica and Allysa Appelt (Stephen); the entire Waite family; and Darlyne, Aaron and Brandan Brajkovich. We were all so lucky to have been part of her life, making saying goodbye so incredibly hard. Liana grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba and while she moved to various places within Winnipeg, she surely was a St. James girl at heart; returning more than once, a true testament to her unwavering commitment to be close to family and friends. Her real and abiding passions were sports, family and friends sharing through hockey, bowling, baseball, soccer and golf because as long as she was with family and friends and could be playing, this was where she belonged. A celebration of life will be held at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 16, 2016. Her personal commitments to CancerCare and Christmas Cheer Board reminded us all that we have something to give and can make a difference for someone else. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to these organizations to continue her work. The family asks that you spend time with those you love, travel and experience as much as possible. The next time you feel the sand between your toes, please make a toast to family as well as enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. I had the pleasure of working with Liana for 9 years. My favourite to work with. A very beautiful lady. She was a huge part in getting me my job with the province and I'm forever thankful. Her laugh was contagious and made her soul shine. My favourite thing about her was her smile. I will miss her very much. Hugs to her family. She was loved by everyone. - Posted by: Sheryl Monaghan (Friend Coworker) on: Dec 14, 2016

Throughout life certain people will always hold a special place in your memories. They will always be a part of you because of the experiences you've shared. Even after time has passed, thoughts of youth, innocence and care-free times when life was simpler, can still bring a smile. Just running into you a couple of times a year, smiling and saying "Hi!", brought that feeling of comfort you get from seeing an old friend who knows your story, knows where you've been. I was always glad to see that you were still around and always hoped you were doing well. When I heard you had passed on, I felt as though a piece of me has passed on as well. I'd like to think that the memories that I've been left with will help fill the piece of life that's sadly been lost. Rest in peace young Lady, rest in peace. Hope to say "Hi!" again one day. Bye for now Liana. DB - Posted by: Denis (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2016
