JACK RAYMOND McDOUGALL April 17, 1956 - December 3, 2016 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Jack. Jack passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Kathleen Plessis and Raymond McDougall and his stepfather, Maurille Plessis. He is survived by his wife of twenty five years Marilyn; his mother-in-law Jean Zebrinski; his son Nathan McDougall; siblings, Kim (Wayne), Mark (Cindy), brother-in-law Ralph (Jan), and Robert (Kim); nieces and nephews, Natasha, Jordan, Melanie, Emily and Jaycee and the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Michael, Tristen and Montana. Jack was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, grew up in McCreary, lived and worked in Winnipeg for many years, and was eventually able to realize his dream of living in Silver Harbour in the woods next to the lake. For several years Jack worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a surveyor and in 1989 made a career change that would change his life. He became a nurse. His caring and compassionate personality allowed him to make a difference in many lives throughout his career at Misericordia Health Centre, Kildonan Long Term Care Home and Betel Home Foundation. Jack was beloved by his coworkers and patients alike and made many deep connections and touched many lives. Jack had a boisterous laugh and a generous and compassionate demeanour that allowed his golden heart to shine through. Jack would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it; whether it was a tool they needed from his extensively and meticulously accrued collection, or simply a kind word of encouragement, he would go above and beyond to come to their aid. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to enter his life. Jack had great respect for everyone who found their calling in healthcare, and on his behalf we would like to thank Dr. Kidane and all the staff at HSC for all their care and consideration. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba. Cremation has taken place and a private family service to follow according to Jack's wishes. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I was so very sorry to hear that such a bright light has been put out. Heaven truly has gained an angel, because that is what Jack was. I had the privilege of working with Jack at Betel. He was the best nurse I ever worked with in my 24 years of nursing. Not only was he compassionate but very knowledgeable and dependable. He would be the nurse you would want with you in an emergency.Always willing to help, and if things got crazy he always had some way to make every one laugh to ease the tension. His laugh could be heard all over the building and it always made me smile. You could not help but smile when around him. He so looked forward to retirement. He was taken too soon.I am sorry I didn't get together with him in the summer, like we had talked about. I hope you passed away with the comfort and dignity that you ensured all your patients had. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Sue Heglin (Co worker, friend) on: Jan 17, 2017
