VERNA JANE BROWN (nee SEYMOUR) October 1939 - December 2016 Peacefully on December 6, 2016, at the age of 77, at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba and with her family by her side. Verna was born in Manitou, Manitoba to Eldon and Lillian Seymour. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1982. Survived by two daughters, Cheryl Charles (Reg), Wendy Krupnik (Joe), grandchildren, Robyn Friesen (Scott), Michael Charles (Jade), William Krupnik (Sarah), Adam Krupnik (Indogo), and her little ray of sunshine, great-granddaughter Leah. She is also survived by her siblings Donna Goertzen, Darlene Hiebert (Al), Dave Seymour (Jan), and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn her loss, brother-in-law Raymond Brown with whom she had a close bond, sisters-in-law Penny and Peggy, and all the nieces and nephews on the Brown side of the family. Verna held various jobs throughout her life but her most memorable was working for the post office in Gillam, Manitoba. After moving to back to Winnipeg she settled into her career as Store Manager for Quintons until her retirement in 2000. Verna enjoyed "puttering" in her yard and her visits with the neighbours. She took great pride and was determined to maintain her independence in her home! She enjoyed her days of travels. She had a great love of camping and the people they met while camping. Verna enjoyed getting together for her monthly lunch dates with "the girls". She was a die-hard Bomber and curling fan. Cremation has taken place. At Verna's request, there will be no service. Instead, remember her with fond memories and love. Should friends so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lung Association of Manitoba, or the Grace Hospital Foundation. Our family would like to send our sincere thanks to the Grace Hospital staff of 3N and 3S for their excellent care and compassion shown to Mom during her time there. Christmas just won't be the same without you and your cabbage rolls Mom! This passage was found in Mom's personal belongings so we would like to share it with you: It is sad to walk the road alone, instead of side by side. But to all, there comes a moment, when the ways of life divide. You gave me years of happiness, then came sorrow and tears, But you left me beautiful memories, I will treasure through the years. written by: Edith Kaufman

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Thank you to family and friends who extended sympathies over the loss of our Mother in December. We missed Mom this Christmas and we are already missing the ability to pick the phone and have our little conversations. No matter what we loved and cared for Mom and it was really important to her that people saw her as indepenent and doing everything on her own. Mom managed to overcome many obstacles in her life one of them being that she quit smoking at 60. Mom was diagnosed with Aggressive Ductile Carcenoma in the spring and was half way through chemo when she ended up with a bug affecting her lungs and COPD. She was strong willed until the end. We are missing you Mom. - Posted by: Wendy and Joe Krupnik (Family) on: Dec 28, 2016
