ARLINE ANN MOOR Peacefully on the night of December 9, 2016 at Seven Oaks Hospital, our beloved mother, Arline Moor, passed away at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Ann Robertson, and her brothers Bud and Lyall. She is survived by her sister Adele and her sons Terry, Glen and Les, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arline was born in Winnipeg and lived here for most of her life. She grew up in the Elmwood area, attending Lord Selkirk School. Later she briefly attended the University of Manitoba until her marriage to Thomas Moor in 1956. Although later divorced, they remained on amicable terms until Tom's death in 1987. For many years Arline worked at the Polo Park branch (since closed) of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Later she worked at the Winnipeg Free Press until her retirement in 1993. She was a generous woman who supported many charities and helped many friends and family members along the way. Arline had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader who loved history and literature, and a great lover of music. Like her father she was a natural statistician, who enjoyed keeping statistics on many things through the years including babies' names and weather. Arline had a green thumb. She enjoyed tending her garden for many years and her home was always filled with thriving plants. She had a deep appreciation for nature and could usually identify any flower, bird or tree one might happen to see. She was very conscientious about feeding the birds, especially in winter. Arline loved animals and had many pets over the years, notably dogs Wimpy, Gumby and Buster. Most of all Arline was a devoted mother who raised her sons with patience, understanding and love. She leaves us with many happy memories and we will always love her and miss her more than words can say. The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks hospital, particularly the staff of the dialysis unit who had the most contact with her over the last few years. The compassionate care she received at the hospital was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the World Wildlife Fund, Winnipeg Humane Society, Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation or any other charity. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19 at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent, with reception and interment to follow. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Arlene's parents were my sister's and my (adopted) Aunty Ann & Uncle Matt. My parents were long time friends and we took holidays at Boundry Park with them plus other places. Lyall & Adele and Arlene and myself used to go to Henderson Hwy (baby) swimming pool with our mothers for picnic's and place to go and cool off in the hot summer months. Seeing Arlene's picture reminded me so very much of aunty Ann who was also a very caring lady as was Arlene. She will be greatly missed by all. • I remember always Arline's warmth. My father passed away and I spent many days at Aunty Ann and Uncle Matt's home. Arline was always kind and although 5 years older than I she always had time to spend with me and her sister Adele. I will always hold a special place for her in my heart. God bless Terry, Glen, Les and their families. May your tears be soon replaced by smiles and wonderful memories of special times. All my love. • I have very fond memories of Arline and the special talks that we had. I will always remember her as having such a beautiful soul with such a tremendous kindness in her heart for all of life's creatures. There is definitely a hole in life's tapestry without her here. Very special condolences to Glen, Terry, and Les. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please take care of each other. - Posted by: Karen Furtado (Danko) (Old friend of Glen's) on: Dec 17, 2016
