DAVID HAVELOCK HENNIGAR During the early hours of December 15, 2016, David flew his last flight. Dave was born in upper Kennetcook, Nova Scotia on July 1, 1932. As the youngest of six children, leaving the farm and school was utmost on his mind. Dave joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 19. After five years, Dave moved on to continue his career in aviation with Air Canada. After 34 years, he retired in 1991 as captain- Boeing 727. Dad was dedicated to the Technical and Air Safety Branch of the Canadian airline pilots association as an Accredited Accident Investigator. Dave is survived by his loving wife Margaret Lorraine, with whom he would have celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary on December 29; daughter Alexis (Bob), son Blair (Sharon), daughter Theresa (Gerard), son Steven (Gary). As well grandchildren, Kelsey, Rees, Andrew, Bronwen, Amy, Deidre, Cole and great-grandchildren, Emma and Taylor. He is also survived by his sister Lucy, of Victoria, BC; sisters-in-law, Joan, of Winnipeg and MaryAnn, of Vancouver. Dad loved his family and made sure we were all "taken care of." - From fixing cars to installing dishwashers to holding babies. Dad experienced numerous hockey, soccer and baseball games, band concerts, dance recitals, Christmas concerts, he was there for it all. One of Dads' greatest enjoyments in his last two years was sitting outside by the pool on the swing with Mom. He loved to watch the clouds and was always in awe by the beauty of sunsets and sunrises. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful care givers over the last year. We also would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital 5th floor unit for their professional care and comforting during Dad's final moments. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul The Apostle Parish, 2400 Portage Ave. If so desired, donations may be made in Dave's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, Pediatric Care.
