RONALD G. CHARTRAND October 2, 1943 - December 13, 2016 How lucky we are to have had someone in our lives that makes saying good-bye so incredibly hard. Our beloved husband, father, passed away peacefully just like he had wished, at home, Tuesday afternoon December 13, 2016. His lifelong devotion to family will leave him lovingly missed by his wife of 39 years, Paulette LeBleu; his sons, Daniel, Michel, and Michel's fiancé Diana Nicholson. Ron will also be missed by his two sisters, Edith (Don Kolody), Diane (Ken Schelling); brothers, Robert (Pauline), Hervé (Isabel), and Johnny, as well as hundreds of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Paulette's sister Dianna Little (children Leif and Bridget) will also miss this gentle and kind man. Awaiting Ron's arrival are his parents, Leon and Eva (Gaudry); his sisters, Mabel, Stella (Etienne Boyer), Celia (Paul Richard); brothers, Wilfred (Thérese), Clement (Jeanette), Denis (Florence); sisters-in-law, Denise Chartrand, and brother-in-law Duve Little, and his special aunts, Louise, Monique and Claudette. Paulette, Daniel and Michel wish to thank Ron's wonderful doctors, Kevin Coates G.P., our oncologists Dr. Gordon (nurse Erin), and our dearest special friend Dr. Fatoye (nurse Mary-Beth) whose great team work and concern for his well-being, enabled Ron and I to enjoy a great seven years of retirement. Also, hats off to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital's Cancer Care department, where Ron received most of his 91 chemo treatments. He struggled so hard to stay with us. He was a fighter until the very end. Never once complaining. Our personal hero. A celebration of Ron's life will be held Saturday December 17 at Sainte-Famille/Holy Family Church (778 Archibald St). Eulogy to begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, donations may be made to: Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF 402-720 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON M5S 2T9) - an organization for which our future daughter-in-law Diana has, and still is, very much involved with. Diana leaves for another humanitarian tour December 26. • Never met anyone quite like him. He could tell stories like no other. He didn't like people to know but he was really good with computers. He will be missed. - Posted by: Christine Leigh Chartreuse (Friend) on: May 03, 2017

  • I was very saddened to read about Ron's passing. He was a good friend and it is that friendship that I will always remember. We worked together at the CBSA International Mail Centre, with him as my superintendent. Ron always gave of himself and committed countless hours volunteering for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, in support of Special Olympics Manitoba. We shared many great times together organizing and participating at various LETR events and fundraisers. My thoughts are with you Paulette and the boys at this time of loss. - Posted by: Guy Wilde (Friend/Coworker) on: Dec 20, 2016
