RAFFAELE MONTEBRUNO December 11, 1922 - December 13, 2016 With sadness in our hearts, the family of Raffaele Montebruno announce his passing in Italy, at the age of 94 years old. Raffaele was born on December 11, 1922 in Mozzagrogna, Italy to his parents Donato and Santa Montebruno. Raffaele was born at home on the farm. At the age of 19, Raffaele fought in the Second World War. He was a prisoner of war in a Hawaiian Army Base for three years. Raffaele returned to Mozzagrogna after the war ended. He later met his wife Mafalda in Mozzagrogna as well. The couple were married in 1949, and were married for 56 years before Mafalda's sudden passing in 2005. Their daughter Santina was born in 1953, and then their son Donato was born in 1956. Raffaele worked as a farmer until his retirement. Raffaele is predeceased by his parents, wife Mafalda; brothers, Umberto and Antonio. Raffaele leaves behind many relatives to remember him, both in Winnipeg and Italy. Son Donato and Tanya; grandchildren, Mateo, Eva, Davide and Jennifer and great-grandson Dante. Brother Luigi and Teresa; sister-in-law Carmela (Umberto); a nephew and many nieces and their families. Daughter Santina and Dino; grandchildren, Luisella, Gianluca and Alessandra, great grandchildren Valentina, Emanuela and Giulia in Italy. Brother Mario and Maria, and their family. Sisters Giovina, Chiara and their families in Italy. Raffaele was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren and family. Raffaele was always happy when family from Winnipeg went to visit too. We are all sad that Raffaele has left us, but we take comfort knowing that his is now reunited with his loved ones for eternity. Our family will be having a private celebration to remember our Dad, Nonno and Zio.
