Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET CAMPBELL (nee WHYTE) September 30, 1922 - December 12, 2016 Margaret was predeceased by her parents William and Helen Whyte (nee Smith); husband Leslie Campbell; brothers, Dave (Olive), Bill (Laura), and James Whyte; brother-in-law Cliff Fetterly; sister-in-law Anne McNamara (Carl); sister-in-law Jan Manese (Charles); brother-in-law Clarence Campbell (Fanny); sister-in-law Mabel; brother-in-law Archie and her best friend Joan Ferguson (Archie). Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and neighbours including her sister Helen Feterly (Victoria), niece Janice (Vancouver), niece Lorraine (Matt)(Victoria), nephew Brian (Ab), nephew Peter McNamara (Holly) (Bradford, Ont.), niece Maryanne Gravely (John) (Virginia Beach), godchild Diane Ferguson (Winnipeg), godchild Margaret Jorge (Paulo) (Winnipeg), son Colin Campbell (Kathy) (Lake Country, B.C.), grandson Brad Campbell (Maryanne) (Ft. McMurray), granddaughter Stacey Campbell (Ft. McMurray), son Don Campbell (Winnipeg), daughter Lesley Campbell (Cecelia) and grandson Shane (Winnipeg). Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She graduated from Kelvin High School and after school served in the Royal Canadian Airforce in the second World War. After the war mom worked at Winnipeg Hydro (now Manitoba Hydro) for a number of years. Mom and Dad were married in 1956. When Mom got married the policy had just changed at Winnipeg Hydro whereby women, once married could keep their jobs, so Mom continued to work until 1958 when she gave birth to Colin. The one constant in life is change and Mom was adept and welcoming of many of the changes that came over the years such as a woman being able to keep her job once married. Mom appreciated the progress of equality and human rights over the years and supported equal rights for all. Mom was a young spirit at heart throughout her life and she kept up to date with all of the latest styles and fashion and she kept abreast of news and world events. Mom, Dad, and family spent many a summer at the family cottage in Ingolf, Ontario. At the lake mom loved the fresh water swims, blue-berry picking, canoe rides, storm watching from the veranda, and watching the full moons especially the August harvest moon around Mom and Dad's anniversary but she did not like the mosquitos and black-flies-hated them! Mom was loving, kind, and especially self-less to a fault. Mom always thought of others and put others before herself. She was beautiful on the outside but even more so on the inside. We will always love and cherish Mom in our hearts. Mom's funeral will be at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Wednesday December 21st, 2016 at 2 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
