VANDA JEAN McDONALD (nee LITWIN) With heavy hearts we announce that on Saturday, December 17, 2016, Vanda McDonald, born September 27, 1930, passed away and is now at peace after a long courageous battle with cancer at the age of 86 years. Remaining to cherish Vanda's memory are her husband, Hugh (Eddy); daughters, Catherine (John), Tamara (John) and Tracy (Dave); granddaughter Tami; great-granddaughter Makena; brother Ted Litwin; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved mother and father, Kay and Michael Litwin; sisters, Gertie, Nellie, Suzanne, Matilda, Emily and brothers, Stanley and Johnny. Vanda was born in Gimli, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm. She later moved to Winnipeg and worked at Eaton's where she met Eddy and they married in 1950. She loved going back to Gimli to visit the whole family on weekends. When the children were born, Vanda stayed home to raise her family. She was a consummate homemaker and prided herself on her clean home and being a great cook. In her spare time, Vanda enjoyed fashion, shopping, music and dance, gardening and had a great love for nature and animals. When the children grew up, she returned to school and obtained her Activity Worker Certificate from RRC in 1985. Vanda loved working with the elderly and working at the Convalescent Home. In compliance with Vanda's wishes, a private family Service will be held. Donations may be made in Vanda's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
