BLANCHE JULIA McKAY (nee DAVY) After a lengthy illness, with family at her side, Blanche passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 81 years. Remaining to forever cherish Blanche's memory are her daughter, Georgina (Rick); brotherinlaw Keith; sisters-in-law, Beverley, Bernice, Shirley and Marion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2012. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Blanche began her working life with Insurance Company of North America. She went on to a 30-plus year career with CBC, where many life-long friendships were formed. Blanche retired from Drake Beam Morin Inc. in October 1997. Mom was a long-time member of Southwood Golf and Country Club. She also enjoyed travel to many destinations including Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Hawaii. During retirement, she volunteered for many years for the Nearly New Shop and league bowled with friends. Blanche was a selfless, devoted mother and always placed the needs of others before her own. Treasured family and friends were important to her and together with Jim, they loved entertaining them over the years, celebrating special occasions and creating fond memories for all. In compliance with Blanche's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. The family would like to extend special thanks to Blanche's Home Care RN's, Emergency Responders and the Doctors and Nurses at the Grace Hospital, for their exceptional care and kindness extended to Blanche and her family. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to neighbours, family and friends for their support during Mom's illness with welcome phone calls, assistance with household tasks and transportation to medical appointments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Blanche's memory to a charity of your choice.
