Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR VALERIE KOLSUN (SOROKOWSKI) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother and Baba on December 22, 2016 at the age of 75. Eleanor's life revolved around her family and the abounding love she had for them all. She is survived by her children, Wendell (Sheila), Melanie (Brent) Thompson, Garett (Wendy); her grandchildren, Kurt, Eric, Aaron, Brittanie, Kiera, Liam, Christian, Blake and Jessica; her brothers, Tony (Irene), Joe (Jenny), and Walter Sorokowski, her sisters Diane (Don) Timchishen, Julia (Bob) Burkard, and Virginia Beauchemin (Chris Aldridge). She was predeceased by her husband Ernie Kolsun and parents Ludwig and Olga (Trakalo) Sorokowski. Eleanor was born and raised on the beloved "Heritage Farm" in Meleb Manitoba. Eleanor graduated from Teachers college in 1959. In 1961 Ernie and Eleanor married and moved to Winnipeg. She taught for a number of years at Luxton School, and West St. Paul School. In 1989 at age 48 Eleanor graduated from U of M with her Bachelor of Education Degree. Eleanor was very passionate about her job as a teacher and loved every minute of it. She retired in 2002 but never really stopped teaching because now she had grandchildren to be her pupils. Eleanor loved her grandchildren unconditionally and with her whole heart. She loved helping them with homework, studying for tests and exams or listening to them read. She loved her vegetable gardening, making sure she had enough cucumbers for her "famous" dill pickles. She loved to tend to her endless flower gardens around her house and the beloved "Farm". Eleanor was always there for her family whether it was to babysit her grandchildren, make perogies, holupchi, meatballs, bake cookies and pies, or do laundry and ironing. She was always there for us. Eleanor loved to travel with her family and has been right across North America, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. All services will be held at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue. Prayers on Wednesday, December 28, at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, at 10:30 a.m. with reception immediately following service. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum, Highway #1 east at Navin Road. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Eleanor, may do so to the St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund. 204-586-8044

Dear Wendall, Melanie and Garett: We were all so very sad to hear of the loss of your dear Dad and Mom. They were great neighbours and friends to our family through our childhood years. Your mom was also our teacher at West St. Paul. So hard to see the old neighborhood changing before our eyes. Nothing stays the same forever. It was great to see your parents attend our mom's funeral in Lac du Bonnet already four years ago. They will be missed and will keep memories close always! - Posted by: Terry Loganberg (Neighbour) on: Nov 18, 2017
