MARY BURNETT (nee PLOMP) Mary Burnett passed away peacefully on December 22, 2016. She has gone to be with loved ones waiting for her. The second eldest of ten children, Mary spent her early years in La Riviere, MB. Later the family moved to Faulkner where she met and married Garnet Burnett. They farmed together for 40 years until retiring to Ashern in 1980. Mary was known throughout the Interlake and beyond for her poetry which began as a hobby that turned into books and poems for every occasion. Leaving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Phyllis Ireland and Jeannette (Norval) Sander; four generations of grandchildren; siblings, Les (Jean) Plomp, Ruby Anderson and Marg Knight. Funeral service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Ashern Legion Hall. Interment to follow in the Grahamdale Cemetery.
