WALTER LANGVER With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing, with family by his side, of our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Walter Langver on December 28, 2016 at the age of 85, just short of his 86th birthday. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis, his parents Walter and Marie, his sister Betty (Ronald), and his brother Harry. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Elliose (Ray), Barb (Marcel), Shirley (Gerry), Walter (Susanne), Rick (Tammy), Valerie (Wayne) and Tim (Terry); grandchildren Tracy (Dave), Lori (Todd), Crystal (Derek), Kari (Lee), Walter (Carly), Sarah (Joel), Tyler, Landon, Ashley, Brady, Connor and Katelyn; great-grandchildren Matthew, Josh, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Alana, Jordan and Amy; sister-in-law Willy Langver of Kitchener, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Leiden, Netherlands on January 15, 1931. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and shortly thereafter met the love of his life, our mom Phyllis, whom he married on May 1, 1954 and spent a wonderful 55 years together until Mom's passing in 2009. Dad proudly served in the Canadian Army as a gunner from 1954 until his honourable discharge in 1961. He was stationed for three of those years in Germany. Upon returning to Canada, Dad and Mom made their home in Winnipeg and raised their family. Dad was a honest, hardworking man who always provided for his family. He worked as a baker for many years at Weston's Bakery. After leaving the bakery, together with Mom they started their own cleaning business. Dad retired from the business in 1997 and the company, Krystal Clear Janitorial is still proudly owned and operated by the family. He had many interests, some being billiards, fishing, going to the casino and travelling. His passion for travel he shared with his family by taking us on numerous camping trips and holidays throughout the years. Having seen many places, one of Dad's more memorable trips was returning to his home town of Leiden. Unable to travel in later years, Dad most enjoyed going out for dinners and spending time with his family. This was most important to him, family meant everything to Dad. There are no appropriate words or expressions of grief or sadness for the pain and emptiness that we as his family feel. We take great comfort knowing Dad and Mom are once again together forever. Dad we love you and miss you so much. You will live in our hearts forever, until we meet again. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow.
