SHARON DALE HODGERT We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sharon Hodgert (nee Jorgenson) who passed away peacefully after a short, but fierce battle with her loved ones at her side. She will be remembered as a woman who was outspoken, selfless and who held her family close to her heart at all times. Sharon was born in Kenora, Ontario where she spent her early years going to Beaver Brae School and moving on her own to Winnipeg, Manitoba at the young age of 14. She worked many jobs from a car hop girl at A & W to a hair dresser to retail sales. It was in 1965 where she met and eventually married Ed in 1966. She gave birth to her two sons Eddy in 1968 and her youngest Kenny in 1970. She was a proud mother who was involved with the community clubs and the kid's sports. Even though Sharon and her husband split in 1985, she and Ed remained close in raising their children. Sharon never remarried but went to school to become a nurse at the St. Boniface School of Nursing where she graduated with Honours. She eventually left nursing and tried her hand in sales and marketing but went back to what she did best which was taking care of others. Sharon was a smart, crafty, independent woman who could fix or create anything she set her mind on. She loved spending time doing stained glass, playing cards with her sons and Denise or gardening with her grandson Jake. Her smile was infectious and her love of people was amazing. She was tough yet caring. She loved her dogs but what she loved most was her family. Sharon leaves behind her sons Kenny, Eddy and his girlfriend Denise, her grandson Jake and his sister Kelsey, their mother Charlene, Sharon's sisters Beverly, Faye, and Jackie, her brothers David and Randy, Beverly's son Sean, ex-husband Ed and his wife Jocelyne, her good friends Lori, Kelly, Jan, Kelly, Karen, Gord, Rod and many more. Sharon was predeceased by her mother Leona Turcotte in 1977, and her father Jim Jorgenson in 1998. She will always be remembered for her smile, her sense of humour and her compassion for helping others in need. A special thanks to St. Boniface Hospital E6 Ward doctors, nurses and staff for helping Sharon pass with comfort and dignity. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Rouge Legion, 426 Osborne Street In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Volunteer Services at St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Taché Avenue, Room A1113, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2H 2A6, Phone 204.237.2442.

Eddy and family, I am so so sorry to hear of your Mum's passing and am deeply saddened. When I first met your Mum and she visited you in Victoria in the late 90's, I remember there was an instant bond. I remember her sense of humour, her kindness and warmth and her genuine love for you and your brother Kenny. Your Mum was such a joy, and in the archives of my 90's photos, which I will dig out, I know I have a couple of lovely photos of your Mum from 'Yew Street'. Thinking of all you during this time, and wishing you all the peace as you all draw close together and comfort one another. I suppose this is not a coincidence Eddy, I was looking up your Mum's phone number to call her and ask for your number (Victoria news) and found her obituary. Big hugs, Karen (aka Porsche) xo - Posted by: Karen MacPherson (nee Taylor) (Old room mate from Victoria on Scott Street) on: Jun 26, 2018

Sharon truly had the best smile and laugh, great picture BTW. She was so much fun to be around, but always spoke her mind. Beautiful inside and out. Even near the end of her life, she was ready with her quick wit and laughter. I miss her. - Posted by: Kelly Seward (friend) on: Jan 01, 2017

I am so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. We were friends many years ago, likely back in the early 90's when I worked at the VGH. Fun times with Suzanne Rondeau and Sharon. I do remember her beautiful smile, that she was bright and had a great personality. Always very close to her family as well. To her family, I hope you find comfort in your memories of Sharon, Rhonda - Posted by: Rhonda Bailey (Friend) on: Dec 31, 2016

When the sun says goodbye to earth, it leaves behind a beautiful sunset as a gift. Your presence was that light during your whole life for so many that you touched. Soar now, fly free like the eagle, your soul at last free of these earthly constraints. Goodbye kind heart, goodbye Sharon. - Posted by: M. Pietrano (Freind ) on: Dec 31, 2016
