DAVID WAUGH ROSSER
Date of Passing: Dec 25, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WAUGH ROSSER Quietly on Christmas morning, surrounded by family and friends, and on the minds of those near and far, David Waugh Rosser passed away. He was 73. The second of four sons, Dave was born in the UK of a family in the military and spent his early childhood in Germany. Moving back to Britain at the age of eight, he stayed there until he was 18 and then joined the R.A.F., where, because of his love of animals, became a dog handler. He served in Northern Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong. After leaving the service Dave went on to work at Dan Air, where he stayed for 10 years. There, he met and married Gerry Peterson. They later moved to Bridgend, Wales where they had two daughters, Alexandra and Amy. In 1977 they moved to Canada, living in the Northern Manitoba town of Churchill. Dave worked at Lamb Air and then on to Calm Air (where he worked until retirement in 2014), he grew his first woolly beard and took to northern living like a duck to water. He stayed in Churchill until the early 1990s, moving on to Thompson and then to Winnipeg. His love of aviation proved infectious as both of his daughters followed him into the airline industry. Dave will always be remembered for his dry sense of humour and his kind heart, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His daughters will remember the summer trips he would take them on to see his family in England. Never having met a turtleneck he didn't like, this photo of Dave is from when he became a Canadian Citizen in 1983. He will be dearly missed more than even he could imagine.

Dave will be fondly remembered for being such a good friend for so many years. George, who always called his friend "DW" considered Dave to be one of his closest friends. David even travelled to Bahrain to visit and was always available to help out any way he could. When we were running the sawmill, Dave would always come down on his days off to provide free labor, always arriving with bags of groceries and a new joke or two. He was there when George and I needed a hand, no matter what it was. Dave was family. A gentle, special guy who was always so very thoughtful. We will miss him very much. Amy and Alexandra, your dad was so proud of his girls. He spoke of you often and was always thinking of you. Our thoughts are with you both at this sad time.
