EILEEN JOY PRESUNKA Eileen Joy Presunka, aged 73, passed away suddenly yet peacefully on December 30, 2016. She was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on August 6, 1943, daughter of Steena and Harold Jeffery. She was predeceased by her husband George Presunka. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Campbell (Warren), Gillian Nattress (Graham), "Other Daughter" Kim Young (John) and son Brian Presunka. She also leaves her grandchildren, Bridget and Theo Nattress and Nathan and Ryan Campbell; sister Leila Cathcart (Roger); brother Allan Jeffery (Marie); sister-in-law Eleanor Kelm; brothers-in-law, Edward Posyniak (Jean), brother-in-law Micheal Posyniak, and mother-in-law Mary Posyniak. She will also be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews, and her most dear of friends, especially Diane and Jim Inglis and Donna Brittain. Eileen was born the baby of the family, the last of six children. She loved her life there, remembering the Teen Canteen dances and waking to her mom making hot cocoa and toast most mornings. She followed her sister into a career of nursing, graduating from the Victoria General Hospital in 1964. She met her lifelong love George in Flin Flon and they married in Victoria, BC in 1965. Eileen's career spanned many years, mostly working with babies in the nursery. Together they tried many cities and provinces, along the way making lifelong friends. She ended her career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse in Edmonton. In retirement Eileen and George built their dream house in Oysoyoos, BC. Their next chapter was travelling across Canada in a Motor Home, Great Times. Mom's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She spent time sneaking ice cream in bed with Bridget, getting a "smack" from Theo, her date nights at the movies with Nathan and cuddling "the happiest baby ever" Ryan. Mom left us suddenly and much too soon. We knew her heart was tired and she had done all she could do. She spent her last Christmas with family and added to the memories. We will miss her, her kindness, her generosity and sarcastic wit. She loved her friends and family fully and will be missed so very much. We hope you are with dad, that you are enjoying the setting sun, drink in hand. We will never stop missing you. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada may be made. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 250-542-4333. Condolences may be offered at pleasantvalleyfh.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Eileen and I were classmates in nurses' training at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Class of 64, as well as both being from Flin Flon. My memories of her are from that time. So sorry to hear of her passing, and thinking of her family at this time. - Posted by: Joan (Einarson, Freeman) (classmate at Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg) on: Jan 07, 2017
