HERBERT HAMMERTON DAVIS May 3, 1933 - December 21, 2016 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Herbert Hammerton Davis passed away. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Caroline Davis; Herb's sons, Victor (Liisa), Paul (Heather); Herb's grandchildren, Jaedan and Rowan; step-children, Dan (Marlene), Rodney, Rhonda (Wilson), Darrell (Norma), Sylvia (Michael), and step-grandchildren. Herb will be fondly remembered by his sister Lorraine and Roy Harrington, sister-in-law Shirley Corbett (nee Walker), nieces, nephews, numerous family and friends. Herb is predeceased by his first wife Vickie Davis (nee Walker), his parents Herbert and Amy Davis, and his brother-in-law Stewart Corbett. For 83 years, Herb lived a life of learning, experimenting, accomplishing and teaching others the wonders of the world. Pop was always there, so knowledgeable and yet modest. Born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, Herb received a formal education, but his main source of learning came from being a voracious reader. History, mechanics, engineering, geography, cosmology and many other topics. He understood and applied his self-taught learning in the real world. Herb served with the Air Cadets, assisted in the maintenance of radar installations on the Mid-Canada Line and helped protect North America from nuclear attack from USSR. Herb saved his funds from his northern duties to purchase and develop a cottage property in West Hawk Lake. His cottage, his legacy, continues to be cherished by his family. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and attention provided by the HSC Cardiac Care A3 Step Down Unit. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Herb's life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donate to a worthy organization of your choice.
