LORAINE THERESE VADEBONCOEUR (nee LAVERY) Loraine Therese Vadeboncoeur (nee Lavery) died peacefully on December 21, 2016 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, aged 92 years. Loraine will be mourned by Roger, her cherished husband of 69 years; her daughters, Louise Costello (Michael) of Victoria and Suzanne Brisson (Gerald) of Katy, Texas; son-in-law Steven Kawai of Mississauga; grandchildren, Patrick (Liane), Mark (Carolyn), and Daniel (Amber) Costello; David (Alison) and Paul (Lena) Kawai; Eric, Thomas (Abigail), and Madeline Brisson; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Roger Costello, and brother Marc (Betty) Lavery as well as many nieces and nephews. Loraine was predeceased by son John (1991) and daughter Claire Kawai (2013). Loraine grew up in St. Boniface where she and her beloved Roger met as teenagers and married in 1947. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Known to her grandchildren as Mimi, she will live in the hearts of all those she leaves behind. Loraine's life was always filled with children. In addition to raising a family, her career as a public school secretary kept Loraine constantly in touch with young people. When grandchildren arrived, she and Roger moved to Regina in 1982, and then followed the children to Victoria in 1986. Visiting her growing family was the major focus of travel. Loraine will be remembered by all who knew her as a person with a genuine interest in them and their stories, and for her beautiful friendly smile. When she came to visit Mom at Tache in her last years; she was always thoughtful and considerate, recalling their good times as young adults, family activities of those long gone years. • Cher Roger et famille Please accept our condolences on the loss of your dear wife, mom and grandmother. Lorraine was such a special person, who always greeted people with a kind word and a smile. We spent many happy gatherings with you both chez Arthur et Therese. Lorraine's love of children is truly her legacy, as she loved to babysit even the tiniest little ones. Rachel, our niece, was so lucky to be in her care almost as a newborn when her parents were away. Lorraine always said she had a special place in her heart for Rachel and I know it was mutual for Rachel. I know you will all miss her so much, but you may be comforted by knowing she is in the hands of Loving Creator, and reunited with her beloved children John and Claire. God bless. - Posted by: Gil and Elsie d`Eschambault (friends) on: Jan 08, 2017

  • She was truly a lovely, genuine lady. I remember meeting up with her a few years back on one of her visits to Winnipeg. It was such a wonderful surprise to hear from her as she had been such a good friend to my Mom. Roger, Suzanne and Louise I send you my most sincere condolences and know that I am thinking and praying for her and all of you. - Posted by: Michelle Jichuk (Couture) (Family friend) on: Jan 07, 2017
