Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEIKE STRACHAN The Strachan and Linnebach families announce the passing of Heike Strachan (nee Linnebach) with both feelings of sadness for those left behind, and joy knowing that Heike is now with her Lord and Saviour. Neither fret nor pain will Heike experience any longer. Remaining to cherish her memory are Heike's husband of 49 years, Arthur, her daughter Kimberley (James) Carter, grandchildren Andrew, Liam, Christian, and Gabrielle, as well as her parents Rolf and Doloros Linnebach, and siblings Wolf, Ralph, Ron, Karin and their respective family members. On December 29, 2016, at the age of 70, Heike peacefully passed away with her beloved husband, Art, and daughter, Kim, by her side. Heike was born November 14, 1946, in Karlsruhe, Germany, and immigrated with her family to Winnipeg in the early 1950s, then moving to Pine Falls for seven years and finally returning to Winnipeg for her more formative years. In her late teens, she met Art, the love of her life. They married and had one child, Kim. Heike and Art were fortunate to live in, and enjoy, different areas of Canada including Southern Ontario, Swift Current and Regina, SK, and Brandon and Winnipeg, MB. One of her most cherished memories was spending time at her "Haven of Rest" cottage of 30 years at Grand Beach. Heike would often be seen perched on a chair in the porch or at the kitchen table playing Scrabble. Never did a day pass that she didn't have a book by her side. Heike also enjoyed walking, keeping up with real estate news, and studying the Bible. She was an amazing cook and took great care of Art and her extended family. Heike was always a doer and an avid listener. She had a passion for knowledge and truth in every aspect of her life, often encouraging others to seek their own knowledge in important matters such as health and knowing Christ. Heike will always be remembered for her generous, giving spirit with which she blessed so many others. Unfortunately, the last 15 years were very difficult for Heike, as her health continued to fail. There were many trials and tribulations that prevented her from doing many things she loved. Heike's dream of travelling was never to become a reality for her. Isaiah 40:31 was one of many verses that Heike held close to her heart and had it written out on a card in her Bible. "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." Heike found renewed strength every day of her illness. Now may she rest in everlasting peace in the arms of Jesus Christ. The family would like to thank Dr. Trevor Winzoski for his care and friendship over the last eight years, as well as extend our gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Victoria Hospital - Dr. Andrew, Wynne, Matt, Debbie et al. No funeral service will be held in accordance with Heike's wishes. Thomson "In the Park" assisting with details.
