Binx was a wonderful person, so curious, so engaged, so delighted by conversation and learning. He was always ready with a story that ended up being a truly amazing one, and always had a laugh or a smile for everyone he talked to. My condolences to his family and other friends... - Posted by: Julie Kentner (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2017

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on this great loss. I have known Binx from the time I became a Table Officer at the House. He was such a kind man, generous with his knowledge and experience and always ready to see the good in people and the humour in a fraught situation. His love of the North, his devotion to parliament and his love and loyalty to family and friends were hallmarks of the man. Binx touched many lives. I so enjoyed his stories and I am grateful for his friendship. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Audrey O'Brien, CM, Clerk Emerita of the House Of Commons Of (Friend and Colleague) on: Feb 03, 2017

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Binx. There are so many memories of him laughing and seeing the funny side of life. He was a true mentor and he always had time for everyone. He made many, many friends throughout the Commonwealth, and even though it has been 17 years since he retired, I still have lots of people asking me about him. So many Clerks across the country and throughout the Commonwealth have very fond memories of him, and there is a lot of genuine sadness about his passing. Binx was one of a kind, a very unique individual and a true gentleman. Margot, Dick and James, my condolences on the loss of your father, it was a true privilege to work with him. - Posted by: Patricia Chaychuk (former co-worker and friend) on: Jan 10, 2017

Binx was a competent professional as he faithfully discharged his duties as Clerk of the Legislature of the NWT. I very much appreciated his wise counsel. - Posted by: David H Searle, CM, QC (Speaker of the NWT Legislature. 1975 to 1979) on: Jan 09, 2017

Binx and my father were very close friends, beginning when they worked together at the NWT Government in Yellowknife. Binx was an amazing person who worked hard and always had wise advice for my dad as they developed the Territorial Council into a fully elected Legislature. He was a unique and wonderful person, the likes of which we likely won't see again. Rest in Peace Binx. Eugene Hodgson - Posted by: Eugene Hodgson (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2017

Dear Margot, James and Dick, your dad was a good friend and I will miss seeing him on his trips to the west coast. He was a wonderful Clerk of the Council in the NWT keeping the affairs of government ticking along and setting the standard for those that followed. - Posted by: David Sproule (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2017

As an Intern at the Legislature, Binx was always a wealth of information about the Assembly. The Clerks robes flowed from him almost as easily as the wealth of knowledge he provided about the Assembly. My condolences to his friends and family. - Posted by: Kelvin Goertzen, MLA for Steinbach (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2017
