Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTHER MARTHA VANDERPONT (nee SODERBERG) June 6, 1928 - December 31, 2016 Esther Vanderpont passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016, in her home. She is survived by her husband, Alan Vanderpont, children Cathy Hummelt (Bob), Murray Vanderpont (Melody), and Joan Rafter (Archie). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Mark (Kaitlin), Erika (Jeff), Adam, Jocelyn, Owen, Ryan, Danika and Lauren. She was predeceased by her parents Algot and Signe Soderberg, and her sister, Mollie Hill. Esther was born in Winnipeg and lived in the East Kildonan and St. James areas of the city. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage, and maintained those Swedish connections through Vasa Lund, hosting Christmas Eve Smorgasbords and travelling to family reunions to Sweden in 2005 and 2010. Esther enjoyed warm, sunny days at the cottage they built at Ingolf, Ontario and delighted in the friends and family that gathered there to enjoy so many good times. Esther had friends from all corners of her life, and they were all very important to her. Prior to raising her family, Esther was a talented bookkeeper, working for Kipp-Kelly in Winnipeg, where she was the skilled operator of their Burroughs Billing Machine. Over her lifetime, Esther was involved in square dancing, curling, golfing, playing bridge, and travelling to Australia, Mexico, Cuba and Europe. Above all, family meant everything to Esther, and she will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in June, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

To the Vanderpont Family I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Vanderpont. I have very fond memories of visits to In golf and wonderful dinners made by Esther. I was always made to feel a part of the family and sincerely appreciate it. I am thinking of all of you at this time and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
