It has been wonderful reading the memories here and also hearing from people who knew my dad and shared their stories with our family. While dad moved to Edmonton almost 20 years ago, he loved Manitoba. Thank you to all who shared your memories. I have laughed and cried with some of you, and these are the memories of my dad that I will hold dear. I think my dad would have enjoyed hearing these stories too! Thank you to all. Mr. Demydowich was a fixture in my life growing up in Winnipeg. He was our next door neighbour, and he and my Dad had a warm relationship. My Dad never had any bad word to say about Bill. Dad and Bill would often chat over the fence about the stuff that Dads and home owners love to chat about... these were good, gentle guys that loved their families and would do anything for their families. Mr. Demydowich was a kind man and he will always live in my thoughts and memories. All the best to Mrs. Demydowich, Jenny, Maureen, and Kevin. Love you all, -Mark - Posted by: Mark Isleifson (Neighbour) on: Jan 14, 2017

My wife and I were saddened to hear of Bill's passing. We have so many wonderful memories of working with Bill when he was at SJR. Always helpful and knowledgeable in his daily work, he also had a great respect for traditions and for his colleagues and a great sense of family and community. In his inimitable way Bill would always remind people that they had to do the right thing. I will always remember his reprimand of a staff member who had left a small child at home alone in order to get to work on time and to avoid getting in trouble for being late. The person's wife had been late coming home to take over caring for the child. In no uncertain terms Bill reminded the person that family and family responsibilities are always more important than work. We will miss Bill. - Posted by: Ray Grynol (Former colleague and friend at SJR) on: Jan 13, 2017

I wish to express my sincere condolences over Bill's passing. I remember him from the "old days", especially the 80s. He was always polite, energetic and helpful, and the school greatly benefited from his work. May you find solace in your memories of this good man. - Posted by: Mark Duncan (Teacher at St. John's - Ravenscourt School) on: Jan 13, 2017

Bill was a gentle man who was always willing to help others. As a member of the St. John's-Ravenscourt School community, Bill made SJR a better place with his commitment and good humour. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Bruce Neal (Co-worker) on: Jan 12, 2017

Bill was part of the maintenance team at St. John's Ravenscourt School for many years. I got to know Bill a little bit as my family lived at the school as my father was a teacher there. In addition, I worked with Bill as a summer student for a few years, where he and the team taught me to paint. He was a larger than life character who seemed to keep a good balance and perspective about things. I remember him providing advice on marriage "always buy a big ring and do a big wedding". When I asked why, he said, "otherwise your wife will always blame you for a small ring and a small wedding". He had a good sense of humour as he would head off for a "heart pill" on occasion (it took me quite a while that actually he was going outside for a smoke). Most important, Bill was always kind to me and the many students that crossed his path. While not a formal teacher, he was a part of many of our lives. We will miss him!!!!! - Posted by: Robert Kiddell (I lived at SJR when Bill worked there and the odd summer I worked with him) on: Jan 12, 2017
