WILLIAM JAMES (JIM) TURNER William James (Jim) Turner, 83, from Courtenay, BC, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2016, at the home of his daughter in Victoria, BC. Jim was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, December 12, 1933, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Reid) Turner. Jim married Ruth Turner (nee Mortenson) in 1959 and had their daughter Karen shortly afterwards. He dedicated 32 years to the Winnipeg Fire Department. He became Captain in his last few years before retiring. After retirement, and the birth of their granddaughter, Jim and Ruth moved to Courtenay, BC. Jim continued his passion of golf at the Sunnydale Golf Course with the Rat Pack. Predeceased by his wife Ruth Ann Turner and his brother Reid (Effie). Survived by his daughter Karen Turner, granddaughter Kaela Turner, sister Joyce Gordon (Jack) and their children, brother Reid's children, son Teddy Ludwig (Louise), grandchildren Daniel Ludwig, Veronica Grierson and great-grandson Carter. A celebration of life will be held in Courtenay, BC at Sunnydale Golf Course on February 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
