DONALENE DOWGAN
Born: Jul 11, 1963
Date of Passing: Jan 04, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALENE DOWGAN It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Donalene on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She succumbed to cancer at the all too young age of 53. She is survived by her mother Joanne, and predeceased by her father Walter (Dixie) and by her only sibling Darrell. She leaves to mourn several aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and her cats Pom-Pom and Elvis. Donalene was born July 11, 1963 and lived all her life in Transcona, graduating from TCI in 1981. She enjoyed a career of Hairstyling and loved her customers as much as they loved her. She was also known as "The Avon Lady" to many near and far. She loved her rock music and her all-time favourite band was Van Halen with David Lee Roth. She enjoyed going to concerts with family and friends and kicking back in Grand Marais at "Dixieland". She had a heart of gold, and always greeted everyone with a big smile and a laugh to share. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. We love you Donalene. At the family's request, there will be no service. Let's all raise a glass to Donalene and cherish her memory. Rest in Peace our Angel. Joanne, my sisters and I were very saddened to hear of Donalene's passing at such a young age. I remember when I returned to high school in the early eighties I met Donalene. She became a constant friend to me and was always there to support me. I really appreciated this support as I was 12 years older then most the students. I also enjoyed the many times I came over to the house to play Uno. I hope that you are comforted in knowing that Donalene is now longer suffering from this terrible disease that is taking so many people away in the primes of their lives.-Debbie McLeod - Posted by: Debbie McLeod () on: Jan 26, 2017

My sincere condolences to all Donalene's family and close friends especially her mother Joanne. I met the family when I used to take my girlfriend Darlene (deceased) to Donalene's for hairstyling. The entire family was always polite and accomodating whenever we visited. The last time I spoke to Donalene was a couple of years back when I came visiting while I was in the area. She was by all accounts a hard worker both as a hairdresser/hairstylist and sales representative. Having Dixie pass just a couple of short years ago was tragic in and by itself but to see Donalene pass at such a young age not long after her father is especially difficult in accepting as I myself am only three years older than her. I'm sure Dixie has set aside space and already welcomed Donalene into the Heaven we all worship. It was only a short time in terms of years that I came to know the Dowgan family but I consider it a privilege and honour to have known such fine people. - Posted by: Kris Anderson (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2017

So sorry to hear of the passing of Donalene. The Dowgan family lived down the lane - opposite street and remember Darrell and Donalene from Mapes C. C. She was very young then and followed big brother that only lasted for so long until boredom or being chased away by Darrell. My mother would also have Donalene cut her hair until her own health issues prevented her from going down to family home. Thinking of you at this sad time Joanne. - Posted by: Gord Holmberg (Neighbour) on: Jan 15, 2017

Joanne - I was so sorry to read of Donalene's passing and her fight with cancer. I still remember when you and Donalene came to Mom's house after my Dad died 9 years ago. Mom passed away last month and although I will always miss her, I take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that your daughter is no longer suffering. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Cathy Walters (Former neighbour in Transcona) on: Jan 14, 2017

Donalene and I became great friends in grade 6, we first met at the park on Kildare, swinging on the swings and talking about our favorite rock bands. Our friendship took off from there. We spent many summers together, at the beach or up in Ontario (Fox Lake). We would sleep outside Eatons waiting for concert tickets to go on sale. In 1990 Donalene was my Maid of Honour. Life had taken us down different paths, but we could call each other up on the phone and we would reconnect as if there was no time lapse. I will cherish our memories. - Posted by: Donna Cherrie Keller (Friend) on: Jan 14, 2017
