BOYD (BUDDY) ASHLEY THOMAS HERITY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, uncle and friend on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 94 years. Boyd leaves to mourn his passing, his sons Jesse (Shadoe) and Ross; sisters June Hall and Patience White; many nieces, nephews and special friends Carol Tasse and Kay Brown. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle; daughter Barbara; brother Ted Herity and sisters Dorothy Anderson & Betty Dick. On December 19, 1922 Boyd was born in Dropmore, Manitoba to parents, Frederick and Gladys Herity. His formative years were spent on a homestead in northern Saskatchewan and then later in Winnipeg. With war raging in Europe, Boyd volunteered with the R.C.A.F at the age of 19. He served until 1945. Boyd was a hard working, loving father who always provided well for and spent time with his family. He drove fuel oil trucks in the winter and cement trucks in the summer. He worked for Winnipeg Supply Co. and then later for La Farge Industries. Boyd loved nature and all animals. He had many dachshunds as pets. He also loved to feed the birds and squirrels on his deck. He was a very proud Canadian and he and his daughter Barbara were great Blue Bomber fans, never missing a home game. Boyd was a great conversationalist and always full of humor. He had a favourite nursery rhyme that he enjoyed reciting in his latter days. His blue eyes would light up and sparkle. It went like this: ''The time has come the Walrus said, To speak of many things. Of sailing ships and sealing wax, And cabbages and Kings" His favourite poem was "The Song My Paddle Sings" by Pauline Johnson. A Private Funeral Service will be held. We would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and the Rosewood. We would especially like to thank Carol for her love and care of Buddy over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Boyd's memory. I was very saddened to learn of Uncle Boyd's passing. I only just read my cousin Heather's e-mail today. I always enjoyed my visits with him whenever I was able to make it back to Winnipeg. Unfortunately the last time I was at my Mom's funeral (his sister Betty). I remember so many good things about my time spent with him. My love to both Jesse and Ross. - Posted by: Judy (Niece) on: Feb 05, 2017
