ELSIE DIANE UNGER (nee PRUDEN) It saddens our hearts to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Elsie Unger on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. The world lost a very special and cherished woman at the age of 71 years. Elsie had lived a very fulfilled life in which she was always able to appreciate the small things. She was the lovely wife of William (Bill) Unger; devoted mother to Sheila Connelly (Donald) and Kim Simon (Mike). The utmost best grandma to Marie (Ed), Kayla (Wade), Chelsey (Mike), William and Matthew. Elsie will also be deeply missed by her great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who she loved dearly. Elsie is survived by her sister, Doreen (Tom); brothers, Cecile (Jeanette) and James (Florence), as well as loving sisters-in-law Ruth (John), Martha, Barb (Harv) and Marie (Ed). Elsie was born on June 18, 1945 and was raised in the small town of Alonsa, MB, she was the daughter of Vida and Jim Pruden who have been patiently waiting for her at the Heavenly gates. She was also predeceased by siblings Alex, William (Billy), Irvin and Ida. Elsie had devoted her life to helping others in any way that she could, even if that meant that she went without. Her caring personality led her to her career choice in which she was an educational assistant at Wellington Elementary School. While working at this school, she had created beautiful memories and lifelong friendships with co-workers and students that she would speak about years after. In her down time, she enjoyed bowling at Polo Park with her friends in the lady's league or simply enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Elsie and Bill had recently celebrated 50 glorious years of marriage and were glad they got to spend it with their family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in her name. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Elsie's life will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Eternal Grace Funerals, 1111 Logan at McPhillips. Elsie will be dearly missed by all and her legacy will live on within our hearts forever. Next time you happen to burn a candle, please think of Elsie.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Kim and Sheila, I'm sorry to just hear of your mother's passing. She was always friendly, and kind. I remember when we were little and I was sick and couldn't attend your birthday party so your mom sent over a piece of cake that had coins baked in it. She was always so thoughtful. My condolences to your dad, you both and your families. - Posted by: Heidi Schattschneider (old neighbours) on: Feb 06, 2017
