Florence was born in Kenora, Ontario on March 28, 1933 and completed her nursing training at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg in 1954. Florence married her high school sweetheart Harry on January 6, 1953 and together they raised their family of seven children. Florence dedicated many years of her nursing career to the Children's Hospital and the Obstetrical group at the Medical Arts Building (Dr. W. Florence was very active in St. Mark's Church and will be greatly missed by her church family who, along with her faith, sustained her throughout her life. • Somehow, amidst all of the chaos, which was occasionally present at 722 St. Mary's Road, Flo always managed to make me feel welcome, special and loved. She had a smile for everyone! You know how sometimes people leave our lives and they are suddenly attributed with Saint-like qualities they actually did not possess?! This is not the case for Flo..... this woman possessed all of the qualities people of faith around the world aspire to...she was selfless and uncomplaining, beyond caring and compassionate, non-judgemental and accepting of everyone and limitlessly loving. I remember her saying 'you can never love enough'. I will remember Flo with love and offer my sincere condolences to the entire family. • We are so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Flo was a wonderful and ever cheerful presence at Morden's Meadows. Gord and I will always remember her care and compassion, as well as the rest of the family when he was having surgery at the St. Boniface Hospital at the same time as Harry. She was a great help and comfort. A gracious lady always. We know you'll all miss her. Cathy & Gord Spence - Posted by: Cathy and Gord Spence (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2017

  • I still remember in 1978 when as a recent immigrant with great trepidation I joined a Medical Group and started practice in Winnipeg. Flo was in charge of administration and when we met, her friendly, beautiful smile and welcoming blue eyes made me feel at ease and belonging. Over twenty years we worked together, our office had its ups and downs, but I could always rely on Flo's loyalty and friendship. We continue to work together until she retired in 1998. It was a great pleasure and honor to have her visit us in Victoria. We kept in touch on the phone and it came as a shock, when I called in December to learn, that she was succumbing to cancer. Flo, you will always live in my memory, Voytek - Posted by: Dr. W. Sylwestrowicz (twenty years of work and friendship) on: Jan 16, 2017
