DORIS JOSEPHINE HEWITT (PREISS) April 11, 1917 - January 13, 2017 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Doris Hewitt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 99 years just three months short of turning 100 years. Predeceased by her husband George; her parents, Reinhard and Ethel Preiss; brother Len Preiss and sister Mae Robinson - Sterling. She is survived by her children, Suzanne, David (Emily) and Norma; grandchildren, Allison (John), Craig and Korinne. Her two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Alexandra and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her only cousin Bill Careless (Ruth). Doris loved her music, garden and cats. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ for the Transcona Memorial United Church as well as singing in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
