ANNE JEAN BROWN (née BLYTH) Peacefully, on January 14, 2017, Anne Brown passed away at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Bourbonniere; her father, William Blyth; her stepmother, Lola Blyth; her brother, Bill Blyth; and her sister, Helen Derksen. Left to mourn her passing are her son-in-law, Tom Bourbonniere (Donna Martin); her grandchildren, Elizabeth Bourbonniere (Curtis Prociuk) and Mark Bourbonniere (Shauna); her great-grandchildren, Allura, Catrina, Mason and Carter; her brother, Doug Blyth (Betty); and her dear friend of many years, Sandra Lewkiw. Anne was born in Saskatchewan on August 18, 1926. When she was a young child, her family moved to Gladstone, Manitoba. Upon graduation, Anne travelled to Winnipeg to attend secretarial school. During her career, she worked as a secretary at the University of Manitoba, the Hog Marketing Board, and Manitoba Pork. Early in her retirement, she enjoyed travelling to Brownsville, Texas to spend the winter. She enjoyed being a part of bowling leagues, and she often participated in lunch and casino outings with her friends, Angie and Sandra. Anne loved fashion, and she was well known for leopard print and sparkle and her bejewelled gold shoes. Her flamboyant cast-offs made for dramatic costumes and dress-up clothes for her grandchildren. For decades, she'd announce that she was "29 and holding", but that she wanted to "make it to 90". Thank you to the third-floor staff at Concordia Place for their care in her final months. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Tuesday, January 24. Those attending should meet at the main gate at 10:40 a.m.
