EINAR PAUL SIGURDSON October 6, 1969 - December 16, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Einar Paul Sigurdson. He is predeceased by his parents, Hal and Merelyn as well as his sister Katherine. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Robyn; children, Dylan and Ellen; siblings, Michael, David and Valerie as well as his many friends and extended family. Paul was born in New Westminster, BC and lived in Port Coquitlam until his family moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1976. Paul was a natural athlete who excelled at hockey and baseball, however, his true passion was in creative endeavors. He took up photography when he was twelve which ultimately led to a successful career in the film industry. He was also a talented musician and was deeply involved in drama and band in high school. After graduating from John Taylor Collegiate, he studied film at Confederation College before returning to Winnipeg to work in film and television. In 1994, Paul married Robyn and moved to Vancouver, BC where he became a member of IATSE 669. Over a 20 plus year career in the film industry, he worked behind the camera in dozens of TV shows and movies. Paul was well regarded in the film community as a talented and skilled film technician who brought a wry sense of humour to the set and who was generous in sharing his knowledge with young assistants. He had a lifelong passion for music, playing with a number of local groups and took great joy in getting friends together to play music or simply enjoy a good meal. Paul will be forever missed by his wife and children, whom he adored, his siblings, extended family and the many people who knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be held January 21, 2017 in Vancouver BC at The Polish Friendship Society Hall, 4015 Fraser St. at 7:00 p.m. An additional memorial will be held in Winnipeg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the education fund for his children at www.youcaring.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Paul was a close friend from school. We played hockey together and music. He was so funny and happy all the time. He was talented and passionate. I still think of him often and miss him. - Posted by: Trevor Fahey (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2022

  • We only met Einar Paul in Winnipeg and Gimli at the family reunion back in 2007, but his hearty laughter and warm smile will live in our memory. And we can never thank him and Robyn enough, for how they welcomed our grandson, Númi Davíðsson, and took him into their home, when he arrived in Vancouver last February to attend Vancouver Film School. A good man is gone, but not forgotten. Sigríður Magnúsdóttir and Jón Axel Egilsson in Iceland. - Posted by: Sigríður Magnúsdóttir (relative) on: Jan 21, 2017
