Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER JESSE OPPENHEIMER Walter Jesse Oppenheimer passed away in Winnipeg on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the age of 95. Walter was predeceased by his wife Beth, and daughters Gail and Lynn. He is survived by sons Dave, Guy (Lise), Lorne, grandson Mark, granddaughter Andrea (Andrew) and great-granddaughter Jolene. Dad was born in Winnipeg to Jesse and Myrtle Oppenheimer and lived most of his life here. He was an athlete from an early age and excelled at Basketball (Manitoba Team), Soccer, and Tennis which he played regularly well into his 70's. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War, and shared many stories of his adventures during those years. He and Beth traveled the world extensively in later years and they formed may lasting friendships. Our Dad had a wonderful sense of humor, and a kind and gentle nature. We were very lucky to have him as our father. Walter will be remembered fondly by friends near and far, and dearly missed by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations to favorite charities are gratefully accepted.

Please accept my condolences upon the passing of Walter, my Mother's (Frieda Corley Melnick ) first cousin. I remember visiting Aunt Myrtle and Uncle Opie as a small child. I did not see Walter very often but I do remember his gentle and kind nature. I am sorry for your loss. My Mother's Father, Angus, and Walter's Mother, Myrtle were brother and sister.
