LORNE COX On Monday, January 16, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lorne passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 73. He is lovingly remembered by Nancy, his wife of 51 years, sons Ron (Trisha), Terry (Tammy), Christopher, and 13 precious grandchildren, Jordan, Matthew, Kelton, Brecken, Kieanna, Baylee, Luke, Julia, Grace, Sebastion, Rose, Lila and Summer. He is also survived by his sisters Gaye and Deb (Ed). Lorne worked for Otis Elevator for 37 years and was well respected by fellow workers, management and clients. Lorne was an avid curler and golfer and developed many friends through these sports. In retirement, Lorne and Nancy spent several winters in Texas and continued to enjoy many activities, especially golf. Their camp in Ontario was Lorne's pride and joy - he built it, maintained it and loved spending as much time there as possible. Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private memorial service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Vital Curling Club, 286 Regal Ave., on Friday, April 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Many thanks to all the doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Joel Gingerich who was instrumental in keeping Lorne with us for the last four and a half years. If so desired, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or online at donate@cancercare.mb.ca

  • I offer my sorrow to Nancy and family. I can only reflect on the past 40 plus years. It seems only yesterday we all were engaged in our daily lives and having laughs at work. Time moves on to fast. I will remember Lorne for all our one on one conversations in my office. He was a good man. - Posted by: Terry and Ainslie Dauphinais (friend/co-worker) on: Jan 22, 2017

  • Lorne was someone who despite his rough exterior was always someone there who cared in your time of need. We worked together at Otis and at one point his ability to handle a crisis helped mitigate a serious work injury I experienced. He quickly came to my aid and drove me to the hospital probably running a few red lights in the process. I will never forget you Lorne. God's speed on this next journey. - Posted by: Stephen Burdy () on: Jan 21, 2017
