MARION GARSON (nee SHEFFIELD) With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Marion Garson (nee Sheffield) on January 14, 2017. Marion, a much loved mother and friend to many, had recently celebrated her 90th birthday in October, surrounded by those that meant so much to her. Marion was born in Winnipeg, and it was there she met and married the love of her life, Jim Garson, her husband of over 60 years. Fun times with family and friends and summers at West Hawk Lake were favourite memories of Winnipeg as she and Jim parented five active children through many childhood activities. Marion had many passions and interests, and was ahead of her time in her enthusiasm for organic foods, vitamins health supplements, and reflexology. Always up for a new challenge, she even gave downhill skiing a go in her 50s because she hadn't tried that yet. Gourmet cooking, ceramics, woodworking, bowling league, dancing with Jim and socializing with their friends, and looking after their growing family occupied much of Marion's time during her life in Winnipeg. Life stayed busy as Marion and Jim moved to Kelowna, a place they'd fallen in love with during previous visits, and had chosen for their retirement. They settled into their new home and Marion embraced the new community: she made many new friends, kept up with her hobbies, took part in Church activities, and was a enthusiastic grandma to a growing collection of grandchildren. Many happy years followed filled with travel, fun with friends, and good times with the family that meant so much to her. Marion will always be in the hearts of those she touched during her long happy life: daughters Lori Garson (Ritchie) and Linda Maracic (Vito): sons Jim Garson (Wendy), Mike Garson (Bonnie), and Paul Garson. She will be much missed by her sister Joan Green, her close cousins the Inkster family, and many friends. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to the charity of your choice, if so desired. A celebration of life will be held in Kelowna at a future date.
