CORRADO ANTONI (TONY) PEZZOLLA 1938 - 2016 Sadly, December 13, 2016, Corrado Antoni (Tony) Pezzolla, of Penticton, BC, aged 78 passed away after a lengthy illness. Left to mourn are his wife Louise of Penticton, BC; his children, Bridget Pezzolla (Chris White), Anthony Pezzolla (Angela) and Chris Hormoth (Karen); grandchildren, Nora White, Alessandro and Ava Pezzolla. Surviving siblings, Dario Pezzolla (Marilynn), Frank Pezzolla (Ingrid) Dorothy Sardo (Salvatore); nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. Tony immigrated to Canada from Romania with his parents and brothers in 1951. Tony spent his youth in Winnipeg and then the wonder lust happened. He travelled to quite a few places and lived in South America for awhile. While traveling back from Vancouver he stopped in Penticton and fell in love with the place. He said the landscape and all the fruit trees reminded him of his home in Romania. In 1981 Tony settled in Penticton and had a successful hair salon named Antoni's. His passion was hairstyling, music, his boat and restoring old photos. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. "Tony, you will be forever missed and a little piece of our hearts went with you when you left." Tony was cremated in Penticton and his ashes have been scattered per his wishes. No service is planned for Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Antoni was a friend of my family & I have known him since before I was in elementary school. He actually gave me my 1st haircut & my mother originally happened to meet him one day at his old shop (before he relocated to where he operated from afterward), as she was parking her car & happened to see him cutting hair through the windows of the place. She could recognize the skill & talent in what he did even at a glance from her car. They happened to strike up a conversation (he was having a cigarette outside after his appointment was done/she was returning to her car) & he has been a friend of my family's ever since. He was an extremely fascinating & interesting man, I remember his Roadster he rewired to foot-toggles (you know what I mean if you ever saw it/LOVE to see someone try stealing THAT car), I remember riding on the lake in his boat (a small junk-style black & red one he built & used to pilot before he had to drydock it/put it in his backyard), I remember eating Twinkies with my sister, Rachel, while watching the Peach Fest riot on the garage roof of the apartment by the beach where he lived at the time. He was a fascinating/interesting man, from the AMAZING things he would find at local pawn shops (Ltd Edition handmade acoustic guitars etc) nobody else saw/recognized the value in to how his design for the cardboard boat-races (using poster tubes for a body/stabilizers rather than boxes) was almost IMMEDIATELY copied by everybody thereon out & revolutionized the way the event was done in the future. He also had a brilliant sense of humour & a sense of whit that rarely failed to take you by surprise. I can imagine it would not be fun to land in his bad graces (guessing as far as I know I never did/CERTAIN he'd have told me had I done so), as he had NO fear saying what he meant & was oft brutally honest, but I always viewed that as the favour of him not being bothered to insult the intelligence of those he talked to & knew with empty platitudes & such. I liked that about him, that's actually a pretty rare trait these days. I was just talking to my mother on the phone tonight, he came up & am very sad to see he has passed since I last saw him (I have been in Surrey the past decade). My condolences to his family & son (I met Anthony a few times, though he likely doesn't remember me...I am a pretty forgettable guy, however, so would honestly be surprised if he did). Antoni TRULY was a legend, they just DON'T make them like that anymore. I feel we are worse for it, yet I am glad I had the chance to know him. I will always have fond memories of him, even when he was at his worst he never stayed down - we are all merely human yet MANY fail in that last bit of the trick. I am sorry I am so late to pay my respects & condolences. Rest easy, my friend/"accercibus ab angelis"~ - Posted by: Vincent Blake Nasby (Friend) on: Apr 23, 2021
