DELLA SCHMIDT Della Schmidt passed away on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Donwood Manor, after a long and full life. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Louise; brother Wilfred; nieces, Debra (Les), Wendy (Peter), Diana (Stefan); nephew Mark (Sheila) and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Della was born in 1917 in Glenella, MB. She attended school there and worked in the family's general store. Later Della moved to Montreal, then to Ottawa and finally Winnipeg. Della worked for the Federal Government until she retired. Della enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. She particularly loved the time she spent with the children as they grew up. Della remained very active, living independently until she was 95, which at that time she moved to RiverRidge making it her new home. She appreciated the staff and the residents very much. Della was a spiritual person who was a life long member of the Lutheran Church. Della enjoyed countless services and fellowship at St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church. At Della's request, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
